Design Brief
This project involved selecting one word, Consume, and conveying a conceptual message by the integration or juxtaposition of type and image in a new or unexpected way, to add another layer of meaning born from the combination of the word and image. I needed to understand all possible multiple meanings, definitions, and interpretations of the selected word. Only the selected word could be used.

Variations
The first variation, Burger Consume, represents consumption of food, females, sex; and debasement. The second variation, Fetal Consume, shows what being consumed by feelings is like; like a small baby about to be swallowed by the darkness. The third variation, Puppy Play Consume, pictures the bestialize and animalize nature of consume.
Critique
Fetal Consume had printing issues with the black. Some viewers confused the fetus for a brain and spinal cord. To depict being consumed by feelings, viewers suggested that an adult figure would better communicate the concept.
Puppy Play Consume received awkward laughs.
Burger Consume received the best critique, with the suggestion to integrate the word into the design.
Revisions
I created the bondage collar with the word Consume on it, adjusted skin tones and shadows, and refined shapes and hair to create a mood of distress
